Ben Watkins, the MasterChef Junior star died from a rare form of cancer at age 14. The junior chef had appeared on the US version of the popular cooking show in 2018.
Ben came from grievous conditions, having lost his mom and father in a homicide self destruction three years prior.
His grandma Donna Edwards and his uncle Anthony Edwards said in an explanation, by means of his GoFundMe page: that Ben had returned home to be with his mom after a one year courageous fight with the cancer disease.
Ben’s grandmother and uncle became his legal guardians.
The following year, aged 11, he featured on the Fox show MasterChef Junior, where his eye for a dessert combined with his tragic back story made him a viewers’ favourite.
Watkins had a “remarkably positive attitude” and was a “tremendous role model for chefs of all ages, and an incredibly talented home cook and even stronger young man”. the MasterChef Instagram page said.
“Ben experienced too much in his 14 years on this Earth, yet we take comfort in that his enduring is at last finished and in that, eventually, Ben realized he was cherished by so many.”
Ben Watkins came from right outside of Chicago and sharpened his youngster culinary abilities by working at his dad Michael’s grill restaurant.
Ben would work the sales register and take orders, and furthermore sold his own hand crafted treats, brownies, cinnamon rolls and banana bread.
However, in 2017, Ben’s dad shot and killed Ben’s mom, Leila Edwards, prior to killing himself.
